Things I Don’t Understand, The Sugar Edition.

22 Feb

I quite enjoyed last week’s edition of Thing I Don’t Understand and, not surprisingly, I have a whole new list for today!

If you’re new here, you might be under the misguided impression that this post is a list  of all the reasons I don’t like sugar or how it is evil for you.  But I promise you right here and new, dear readers, I don’t believe in 25 calorie “desserts” and I fully believe we should treat ourselves to the foods we love.  Within reason of course.  I mean, don’t go having birthday cake for breakfast AND dinner.  That is a bit extreme.  It’s fine for breakfast though.

Let’s get started!

  • Birthday cake Oreos. I feel like Oreo really let me down with these.  They are a combination of two of my favorite foods, birthday cake and Oreo cookies.  But sadly, I think they taste a lot like soap.  If you haven’t tried these cookies, please save your dollars and just buy the double stuffed, that’s really where the Oreo magic is anyway.
  • Cream Pie.    What is cream pie anyway?  Just a pie crust and some pudding, right?  Or am I missing something here?  I am NOT a cream pie lover, in case you couldn’t figure that one out.  I am a berry pie person.  If I want pudding, I’ll eat a snack pack, not cut a slice of pie.
  • People who don’t like ice cream.   Honestly, I can’t imagine the trauma someone must have expereinced to not like ice cream.  I have a friend who claims she hates all ice cream, and every day I question our friendship.  Ice cream should be it’s own food group, it is that delicious.  It comes in so many flavors, there’s something for everyone.  Growing up my favorite flavor was bubble gum.  I’d eat my way around all the little pieces and then form one giant piece of gum, which never tasted that great.  Probably explains why I don’t like bubble gum ice cream now.
  • Pistachio ice cream.  How is it so good?  It doesn’t even make sense as a flavor!  And yet it is delicious!  That lime green coloring and tiny pieces of pistachio add up to a freakishly good combination.  I think it might be my favorite flavor, but I really don’t want mint chocolate chip to get jealous, so I won’t commit to that.

Have you tried the birthday cake Oreos? They don’t taste normal, right?

I may have to try birthday cake oreos just so I can give you an opinion. I’m on it!

Do it in the name of science! Let me know what you think, I’ve heard some people like them, but I think those people are crazy!

I’ve never had birthday cake oreos. Oreos in all forms are like crack to Stephen, so we can’t keep them in the house. (Chips and salsa are my crack, yet I make the grocery list, so I continue to buy them. Mwahaha!)

Who are these people you speak of who don’t like ice cream? That is nonsense!

I can tell Stephen and I would get along very well. At least until it was time to share the Oreos. And chips and salsa are no match for my ability to inhale them!

Thanks for the heads up on the oreo’s. That is definitely something I would have bought!

I’m afraid to try the Birthday Cake Oreos (and most likely won’t). Just recently tried the Mega Stuf … and they were meh. I’ll stick to the Double Stuf & prob not stray ever again. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

Justin brought home a package of the Mega Stuf, I felt like it was a waste of an Oreo.
