Music Monday – Disney Time!

Music Monday

.

I’ve decided today will have a theme, I think everyone needs more themes in their life.  Is that even a word, it looks funny to me.  Kind of like when you say a word over and over and over again it eventually sounds like a made up word.  No?  That’s just me?  OK, moving on.

Today’s theme is soundtracks of the cheesy and kid friendly variety.  I realize not every runner is fortunate enough to have the joy of sitting through hours and hours of Disney and Pixar movies, which is why I bring you my two new favorite songs.

First up, from Brave, is “Touch The Sky” by Julie Fowlis.  This song fits ME perfectly, because when I’m running and everything falls into place, I feel like I am about touching the sky, it’s pure joy.  I usually have this on my racing playlist and it provides an extra nudge I need to pick it up a notch and give everything I have.

Next is from Secretariat, “It’s Who You Are” by AJ Michalka.  When I listen to this song, all my doubts about myself and my running seem so much smaller and insignificant.  Every lyric in this song makes me think of running and training, and enjoying the journey.

It’s never the glory
It’s never the score
It’s not about seeing about who’s less and who’s more
Cuz when you find out how fast and how far
You’ll know it’s not how much you have
It’s who you are

I mean, come ON, is that not perfect for us as runners?

Now, if I force you to pick a Disney-ish song, what would you choose? Or are you fortunate enough to have zero contact with the force that is kid’s movies?

Next week I will share with you the song that shames me the most on my playlist!  FUN times for everyone.

Two Camp Rock songs made it on to my ipod after I saw the show for the first time, and they are still two of my favorites to run to. One is the Camp Rock theme. The other is Demi Lovato singing “This is Me.” My favorite line says, “I’m exactly who I’m supposed to be,” or something along those lines. I may have sung that line out loud a time or two while on a run.*

I love Disney music. I jammed to the Little Mermaid, Lion King, Aladdin, and Beauty and the Beast soundtracks pretty much the entire 6 hour drive to the Disney marathon. I love them all.

You definitely have to listen to Disney music when driving to a Disney race!

I don’t have kids so I am not familiar with much Disney music. I have to admit that I do have some Xanadu songs on my playlist though. I loved that movie as corny as it is!!

I think the corny movies often have the best music!

Aren’t Disney songs great?! Always so motivational. We’ve been watching How To Train Your Dragon a lot lately, and there are some great songs in that movie. I’m assuming it’s Disney….I’m usually listening to it while the kids watch it in the car, which makes the music all the more important!

I’m going to check out the soundtrack, I love the movie so I’m sure I liked the songs when I heard them.

I love disney songs! I have never actually considered adding them to my workout mix but maybe I should. Great idea!
