It’s a new thing I’m trying out, go with it people. For a while now, I’ve been wanting to do a blog post about new music I’ve added to my playlist, and also to ask for recommendations for new songs. But I am just too lazy to go through all the new music I’ve added at one time. I’m going to try to do a weekly wrap up of the new stuff I’m listening to, or my new favorite. Some weeks I don’t actually find any new music, which fills me full of sadness, so this will motivate me to keep looking for new tunes.
I know listening to music is pretty controversial in regards to runner safety. I usually only run with one ear bud in, and contrary to my cute meme, just loud enough to hear it. I want to be aware of my surroundings at all time, and if I’m rocking out to NSYNC that’s going to be a lot harder. When I’m running with a large group, or during a race, I do tend to crank the volume and wear two earbuds. And on the treadmill? I feel very sorry for my poor eardrums.
This week’s current favorite is “I’m on a Roll” by Stefano. I have to admit I’m a little bit biased. The Hubs taught Stefano when we were still in the land of the lattee. This song is PERFECT for a tempo run though, it will get your legs moving when you just want to stop and throw up.
Now it’s your turn! What song is your current favorite? It doesn’t have to be a new one, just the one you’re enjoying the most right now.

Oooh nice. I like this idea! The majority of my runs (aka any run that I run outside) are done without music. (The roads where I live just aren’t that safe, the drivers are crazy, many sections don’t have sidewalk. I need all my sense to be safe.) But but but – I’ve started running on the treadmill on occasion, and I definitely listen to music on those. I’d die otherwise.
On today’s run, “I don’t want this night to end” by Luke Bryan came on and I really felt good during it. (I know, country on a workout playlist? But it was great!) My other recent fave is Demi Lovato’s “Give Your Heart a Break.” Love her, love the song. Amaze!*
Music is essential on the treadmill! I even have a separate treadmill playlist with all up tempo songs, I can’t survive without it! I’ve tried some country for running in the past, without much success, but maybe I’ll give it another try.
I tend to leave the music at home if I’m running with friends, but almost always bring it when on my own. Sometimes it’s a little too loud for my own good, but I usually run at 7 a.m. and not sketch o’clock.
And I definitely need it in races longer than 4 miles!
Favorite running songs: “Edge of Glory,” “Fighter by Christina Aguilera, pretty much anything by Rihanna…
“Edge of Glory” is a great one, I have it but haven’t put it onto a playlist yet. I’m such a slacker. I try not to listen to music when I meet up with friends too. I’ve run with friends who have their earbuds in and it’s kind of annoying, and I don’t want to be that guy.
I’ve been listening to a lot of Avett Brothers lately while running. It’s been very calming.
I’ve found that putting music that calms me down on a playlist works really well for long runs. It keeps me from getting all crazy and working myself up.
I’m so out of it when it come to music. Though I do get really excited when a song comes on that’s been on GLEE!
I have the first three seasons of Glee, I love all the songs they’ve done. Though I did stop watching a couple seasons ago, so I’m a little out of touch with their stuff.
I love the new Pink song “Try”. Anything by Pink is awesome!!
I just added “Try” the other day! I really like most of Pink’s stuff, and I have a ton of it on my ipod.
I really like the new One Republic song: Feel again and Bruno Mars: Locked out of Heavan, oh and Kesha’s Die Young. So much fun pop music to run too!
I am a big pop music, top 40 kind of girl. I should probably branch out a little bit. Kesha’s “Die Young” has such a great beat, I love when it comes on.
